GERMAN TECH GIANT SICK UNDERTAKES MAJOR EXPANSION IN JOHOR, MALAYSIA.

German industrial sensor provider SICK AG is investing nearly RM1 billion to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Senai Airport City, Johor, positioning it as the company’s regional industrial hub. The facility’s ground-breaking ceremony was held on May 8.


SICK is planning to transfer operations from its current production site in Ulu Tiram, Johor, to the new facility in the third quarter of 2026. The phased development, beginning with RM280 million in Phase 1 by 2026, will span 10 hectares and focus on advanced sensor technologies for global automation markets


Headquartered in Waldkirch, Germany, the company operates 63 subsidiaries worldwide with more than 10,000 employees, generating a group revenue of Euro 2.1 billion (RM10.2 billion) in 2024.
